Markham Crane Operator Classes - For the operators and the supervisors, new and current, the crane operator training course is suitable for all. Course content deals with applicable provincial, state and federal safety regulations. The training's first component comprises comprehensive in-class lessons and exam. After that is a customized hands-on session with practical lessons and evaluation.
Course content applies to all categories and types of overhead lifting devices. Particular instruction will concentrate on aspects of crane operation utilized at the workplace of the trainee. Upon completing the course, trainees will know how to operate particular overhead lifting equipment, related parts and attachments in an efficient and safe way.
The purpose of the operator course is to identify any potentially dangerous habits that an operator could develop when operating an overhead crane. Costly damage to equipment and products can be prevented with proper habits. Training reduces the possibility of a workplace injury or incident taking place.
The course would encompass about eight hours of classroom instruction with a couple of hours of hands-on customized, on-site training. Participants will be graded on their knowledge of training material via written tests and an evaluation of their practical knowledge. The minimum acceptable score is 80%.
In the in-class session, participants would learn applicable causes of occurrences and damages, guidelines and legislation, internal responsibility, danger awareness, capacity ratings/load weight calculations, design principles and basic equipment, safe hosting/operating methods, pre-shift equipment inspections, kinds of hardware, equipment applications/rigging, operator/pedestrian safety, angles and hitches, hand signals for slingers and operators, turning/flipping loads safely.
The practical training and evaluation portion of the course should be pre-scheduled. This customized part of the training will be held at the trainees' facility. The duration of this practical training part is one to two hours. Two operators at a time will be trained by the instructor on skills such as planning the lift, proper rigging practices and safe operation.
Upon finishing the practical operating instruction and evaluation and the in-class instruction, the trainee will write an exam. Signed safety rules will be needed from every participant. Trainees who are successful will be provided with individual wallet certificates. A framed wall certificate will be provided to the company.
