Markham Bucket Truck Training - The bucket truck training program is a program that is designed to effectively train operators who are qualified so they could lessen the chance of personal injury and incident when working in close proximity to or with bucket trucks or vehicle-mounted aerial work platform. An aerial lift device is whichever vehicle-mounted device, articulating or telescoping, or both, which is used to position workers to reach places which will otherwise be unreachable. Aerial lift devices are utilized in order to elevate personnel to above-ground work locations.
The program aims to provide operators with the knowledge, skills, training materials and abilities necessary in order to efficiently and safely operate vehicle-mounted aerial work platforms.
The program consists of a classroom training session and a hands-on training session. To be able to become certified, participants need to be successful in both parts. A full-size certificate and a wallet-size certificate will be issued upon finishing the program.
The types of lifts examined in the program consist of Aerial lift devices are usually made of metal, wood, reinforced plastic, fiberglass or other materials.
Definitions
Articulating boom platform: has at least 2 hinged boom sections.
Extensible boom platform: has either a telescopic boom or an extensible boom.
Platform: the part of an aerial device which is designed to carry personnel.
Mobile unit: a combination of aerial devices, including its vehicle and related machinery.
Workers who work with aerial devices have the responsibility of making certain that they are properly authorized and trained. Employees must make sure that people who are not trained and authorized do not use lift devices. Workers should make sure that they wear the proper protective equipment if working from the platform.
Course content includes operating the vehicle-mounted aerial work platform, pre-shift inspection, safe operating practices, lifting capacity, use of emergency controls, and administering theory and practical tests. Operators will know rules under the local and federal regulations.
