Markham Manlift Certification - The Elevated Platforms and Manlifts Certification course helps to provide the required training on the work practices, safe operating procedures, regulations and rules regarding the daily activities for the operators of this machinery. The course has been designed for individuals who are actively involved in these activities or individuals who have a basic understanding of this machinery.

Aerial platforms and manlifts have become integral and common equipment in industrial settings during the past few decades. These machines provide an easy way to lift staff close to what needs to be done on a stable platform apparatus, allowing workers to do tasks with greater safety and comfort rather than being perched on top of scaffolding or ladders.

The manlift is like other industrial tools in that they are safe if used correctly. Because they lift workers above ground level or floor, accidents can easily happen and this could cause serious death or injuries for both the operators of the manlift and any passerby who may not be lucky enough to be standing below.

Manlifts come in various models. Most fit into 1 or 2 categories: the scissor lift, which is capable of moving up and down and the articulating boom lift, that could move both vertically and horizontally.

Protecting Staff

It is very important to offer proper training for you operators. Many businesses which lease these equipment will offer on site training. Each worker who would be working on the equipment or operating it must receive training in safe operations. It is also important that just those workers who have received training must be authorized to operate the controls. Communication rules and operating procedures should be clear. Hence, workers on the ground should not operate controls without the knowledge and approval of any workers in the basket.

Those staff who would be occupying the basket are required to wear correct fall protection including lanyard and a harness. That protection must be connected to the manlift itself and not to a nearby surface. The employee has to make sure that he or she has made any adjustments required to reflect the change in fall distance if the height of the work area changes.

Manlifts need to be inspected and tested each and every day to make sure they are in safe operating condition. Prior to the equipment being utilized, any defects should be re-inspected and repaired.
